NJ Congressman Steve Rothman Supports Gay Marriage!

Posted by admin on June 24, 2008

Rothman announced last week how he believes in the legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples.  Rothman didn’t always believe this in regards to gay and lesbian couples but what changed for him?

Well he got remarried and his new wife has 3 children and one of Rothman’s new step-children happens to be a lesbian.

Rothman has now joined 51 other representatives in Congress’ LGBT Equality Caucus.

It’s amazing what happens to people when they find out they KNOW someone who is gay or lesbian and they actually see that our lives are just like everyday heterosexual couples lives.

I honestly believe, that we has gay and lesbian folks, need to be OUT and need to share our lives with straight people.  Invite them to dinner, go to the movies with them, do anything you normally do for fun with your partner but invite a straight friend of yours to do it with you.  Overtime, if they don’t know it already, they will see that our relationships are just like theirs and that we deserve the same rights that they and their partner deserves!

Unmarried couples can now adopt in Ireland!

Posted by admin on June 24, 2008

Last Wednesday, a landmark ruling came down in Ireland which now allows unmarried couples to adopt children! Northern Ireland is now in line with the rest of the United Kingdom.

This was brought forth as a result of a lesbian couple who sought adoption rights of the non-biological mother of the pair’s daughter.

Goooo Ireland.

GLBT Advocacy Groups Asking California’s Highest Court to Block November Ballot Initiative!

Posted by admin on June 24, 2008

Equality California filed a legal brief stating that the initiative is a REVISION – not an amendment – to the state constitution, therefore it requires state legislative involvment and not a majority vote.

The court will rule on this in the summer.

There Goes the Neighborhood!!!

Posted by admin on May 28, 2008

hehehe  just teasing (but some may be thinking that for real!)   I’m sorry I’ve been slacking with the postings lately but it’s for a good reason I SWEAR!  My baby and I bought a house together.  We made settlement on 5/15 and honestly, we’ve been working non-stop since then.  New carpet, paint, etc. etc.  And this past weekend we started moving the bigger items in…now we’re just basically going back and forth and moving the rest of our stuff in…ya know  clothes, cd’s, books, kids, cats, etc. etc.  lmao  All of the important thangs!

After I’m all situated, things will be back to normal here……..please just give me a few more days but I’ll do my best to try to make a post or 2 tomorrow because there are some fantastic things happening in the world right now in regards to glbt rights.

Btw, care to share any experiences you have may have had when you and your partner buy a house together and move into a primarily straight development?  Definitely want to hear about your experiences if you’ve happened to move into a very conservative/republican type of area with your partner.
